22-23 YEAR AT A GLANCE

A Message From the Principal

Dear Families,

Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Tammy Bidinger to our school community. Tammy will work as an office assistant Monday – Friday from noon – 3:00. Tammy is mom to four Mother Seton School students: Austin (gr 5), Elias (gr 4), Noah (gr 1), and AJ (Pre-K 3). Please be patient when ringing the bell to enter school. If Tammy does not recognize you, she will ask for your name and who you are here to see or pick up.

You might have heard from your children that the health room moved. The health room is now located to the right of the main entrance and next to the science lab. This new space provides more space and privacy for our students. When picking up a sick child, please report to the office first, and your child will be called to meet you.

In other exciting news, the library circulation desk, storage closet, and bookshelves arrived just before Christmas. Thanks to our facilities team, all furniture was assembled over the Christmas break. Our books are due back in the library on January 31. Father Harry Arnone, C.M., will bless the new space on February 3.

The Grubby family would like to extend their gratitude for all the prayers and support from our MSS community after their house fire and additional calamities last month.

We continue to be moved by the love and support of our MSS community. Grateful is an understatement, we are so blessed. - With Love, Devynn, Kevin, Sadie, and Violet Grubby

We will not have school on Monday, January 16, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Have a Blessed Week!

Sincerely,

Kathleen J. Kilty, PhD
Principal

SICK POLICY REMINDER - IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ

*Additional reminder: if your child has vomiting or nausea and is sent home from school, they should NOT RETURN THE NEXT DAY. Please follow the 24-hour rule as you would for fever or diarrhea.

There are many viruses going around, not the least of which are COVID, flu and RSV. Many of our students have already suffered illnesses. PLEASE, in order to keep our school healthy and to show consideration to other students, faculty, staff, and families, DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL IF THEY ARE TOO SICK TO TAKE PART IN NORMAL ACTIVITIES OR IF THEY HAVE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:

  • Fever at or above 100˚F
  • Vomiting or Nausea
  • Uncontrollable cold symptoms
    • persistent/disruptive cough
    • excessively runny nose
    • headaches/body aches
    • sore throat
  • Shortness of breath
  • Decrease or loss of taste or smell
  • Diarrhea
  • Undiagnosed rash
  • Green nasal discharge lasting longer than ten days or accompanied by fever/chills
  • Pinkeye

Since cold and flu symptoms can mimic COVID, please ensure your child has tested negative for COVID before sending them to school. We have at-home test kits for your convenience. Your pediatrician can also recommend a combination COVID-Flu-RSV home test kit if they believe it's necessary.

As a reminder, children must be fever- and diarrhea-free for at least 24 hours without the aid of medicine (Tylenol, Motrin, Immodium, etc.) before they can return to school.

If your child exhibits any of these symptoms at school, we will send them home. If your child must miss more than 3 days of school, we ask you to please bring a doctor's note upon their return to school.

Thank you for your consideration of the health of others and your assistance in keeping our school healthy!
