A Message From the Principal

Dear Families,

We are disappointed we’ve had to postpone our Blessing of the Animals celebration today. But we hope you will be able to join us next Tuesday and that the weather cooperates. St. Francis loved all creatures, great and small, and though we couldn’t celebrate his Feast Day today as we would’ve liked, here is a blessing you might want to pray with your family tonight:

“Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures. You called forth fish in the sea, birds in the air, and animals on the land. You inspired Saint Francis to call all of them his brothers and sisters. We ask you to bless this pet. By the power of your love, enable it to live according to your plan. May we always praise you for all your beauty in creation. Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all your creatures! Amen.”

The Catholic Church dedicates the month of October to the Holy Rosary. On Friday, October 7, we celebrate the Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary. Praying the rosary with your family is an opportunity for union with the Holy Trinity through our Blessed Mother, Mary. Please see this guide for information on how to say the rosary.

There will be no school on Friday, October 7, and Monday, October 10. Our teachers will participate in a professional development opportunity on Friday, and Monday is one of the federal holidays observed by the Archdiocese. Enjoy the long weekend!

Thank you for supporting the Angels Above Golf Tournament that will be held on Friday, October 7. While our golf teams are now full, it’s not too late to donate. Visit the golf page on our website for more information.

First-trimester interim reports will be sent home with students on Tuesday, October 11. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have questions about the report.

Have a Blessed Week!

Sincerely,

Kathleen J. Kilty, PhD
Principal

Mental Health Awareness Speaker Series - PLEASE RSVP!

Mother Seton School's Home and School Association presents our first Mental Health Awareness Speaker Series in conjunction with our next HSA meeting.

Guest Speaker: Sister Maggie Scally, D.C.

Topic: Discussing The Second Step Program and its benefits.

As we come out of the past few years, an important topic has come to the forefront, mental health. Mother Seton School and the HSA would like to encourage this discussion to continue, which is why we have planned a 3-part series focusing on various topics centered around mental health. First up is Mother Seton School's very own, Sister Maggie Scally, D.C., and The Second Step Program. Sister Maggie will discuss what the program offers our children and the steps we can take at home to help encourage engagement with our children.

The HSA general meeting will start at 6:30 p.m., with Sister Maggie starting her presentation at 7:00 p.m.

Like all HSA meetings, this event is open to the Mother Seton School community. While we encourage you to attend the HSA meeting to hear about upcoming events and volunteer opportunities, we understand everyone has busy schedules. Sister Maggie's talk will be approximately 30 minutes long.

Child care and light refreshments are available. Please RSVP!

Be a Part of the HSA and Make a Difference for MSS!

The MSS Home and School Association depends on parents to encourage volunteering their time, talents, ideas, experience, and energy. Many parents are uncertain how to get involved due to working full-time, little ones at home, etc. Most of the opportunities have flexibility—please contact us with any questions—and we welcome suggestions on future events and programs.

Please complete the Volunteer Form.

*Join us for our next meeting, October 11th at 6:30pm in the media center*

LEAD FOR A NIGHT AT THE RACES GALA NEEDED!

Each year, the HSA sponsors a Gala-style event, which is the main fundraiser for the school. Because of COVID, we have not been able to have one the past couple of years. We are in danger of not being able to hold one this year if we do not find someone willing to take the lead on this!

Please fill out the volunteer form or contact Trish at HSA@mothersetonschool.org if you are willing and able to step up for our school. The proceeds from this major event have been used to pay for classroom subscriptions, new playground equipment and mulch, and addition educational materials.

PE Shirts

PE shirts have arrived. Mostly. Due to supply chain issues, the order was not complete. If you did not receive your shirts, please call Mrs. Smith in the front office. More are arriving in the next couple of weeks.

Because there was a long backorder on cotton blend shirts in Youth XL, the printer will be creating those shirts using 100% cotton material. Please make sure you wash Youth XL shirts in cold water!

MySchoolWallet

This year, we are trying out a new app to help streamline payments to the school and (hopefully) make your life a little easier!

The app is called MySchoolWallet and you can download it from the Google Play Store or from Apple.

Only simple payments will be made through MySchoolWallet such as:

  • Field Trips
  • Event Tickets
  • Single Products

Once you set up your account, you only need to open the app and click to pay. It's easier than sending in cash or check, and both the school and you can more easily track your transactions. Please remember to put in the notes section what you are paying for specifically (i.e. 8th grade field trip).

No more wondering if you paid for that upcoming field trip... just click on the "Transactions" tab in the app and you'll know!
