MSS HSA Partners with Mount Basketball!

Attention all MSS Parents and families:

Mount St. Mary’s University Athletics and Mother Seton School Home and School Association (HSA) are teaming up this basketball season! The Mount is looking for adults, 16 years and older, to work as ushers at all of the women’s and men’s home basketball games. If you are able to volunteer, please sign up via the sign-up genius link. By volunteering, your children, spouse, or child sitter will get free tickets to that game.

By helping Mount Athletics you can help us raise up to $9,000 for Mother Seton School. In addition, if you are looking to satisfy your volunteer hours, ushering at the games counts!

Come support Mother Seton School and cheer on our Mount Basketball Teams!

A Message From The Principal

Dear Families,

I hope this note finds your family healthy and well.

On Friday, October 29, our middle school students celebrated Mass together and participated in the 2021-2022 National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) Induction Ceremony.

The purpose of Mother Seton School’s NJHS chapter, the Archbishop James Bayley Chapter, is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulate a desire to render service, promote leadership, develop character, and encourage good citizenship in the students at Mother Seton School.

Congratulations to the 2021-2022 Archbishop James Bayley NJHS members:

  • Ben Caretti
  • Sophia Erdman
  • Grace Hewitt
  • Gianna Kinnamont
  • Anya Laird
  • Thien-Y Pham
  • Maryn Rajaski
  • Finn Tayler
  • Caleb Thompson

I would also like to take a moment to give thanks to our generous community. Last week, we began Penny Power to raise $7,000 towards a new computer lab and media center. By the end of the week, we had raised almost $20,000!

Additionally, the LaCroce Family offered to match donations to the Seton-LaCroce Learning Center made in October, which was Learning Disabilities and ADHD Awareness Month. Because of your kindness, we met that match and ensured students have the tools and resources they need to continue to succeed.

The month of November in the Catholic Church is dedicated to the deceased. We will have a memorial wall in our atrium to remember those deceased loved ones in our community. Please refer to the Tuesday News for how to submit the name of someone you would like remembered.

I thought you would like the following prayer to recite with your family this month as you remember your deceased loved ones:

Eternal rest grant upon him/her.
and let perpetual light shine upon him/her.
may he/she rest in peace.
Amen.

May his/her soul and the souls of all the

faithful departed,
through the mercy of God,
rest in peace.
Amen.

Have a blessed week!

Sincerely,

Kathleen J. Kilty, PhD
Principal

Memorial Wall

In honor of the beloved deceased in our community, we are setting up a memorial wall in the atrium and entering their names in our Book of Prayers. If you would like to have someone remembered, please submit their name and relationship to you/your student via email to Jennifer Buchheister at advancement@mothersetonschool.org by November 12.

Toys for Tommy Toy Drive - 11/15-11/30

Contact Jennifer Buchheister with any questions.

WANDS FOR WILDLIFE - GREEN SCHOOL COLLECTION

As part of our Green School initiative, middle school science classes are collecting used mascara wands for wildlife!

The wands are shared with wildlife caregivers to use in providing care and treatment to wild animals. They use the wands in many ways including direct care of the animals and help with cleaning items like syringes.

Before you throw your mascara away, please clean off the wand and send it in to Mrs. Kuykendall (Mrs. K). One simple step to help wildlife and be a good steward of the earth!
