20-21 YEAR AT A GLANCE

We know that he gives us every grace, every abundant grace; and though we are so weak of ourselves, this grace is able to carry us through every obstacle and difficulty. - Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton

Dear Families,

The change from summer to fall this week finds us getting into our routines and growing more accustomed to life and learning during this unusual time. We appreciate your grace as we navigate these unchartered waters. As we continue with our third week of school, I would like to offer a few important updates and reminders.

We will begin our new testing program, the Performance Series Assessment, this week. Please refer to my September 18 letter for more information. Please be sure to contact your child’s teacher if you would like to child to complete the test at home. I am excited to use this new assessment tool that will help us meet the needs of all learners.

On Thursday, September 24, our new band teacher, Ms. Natalie Gries will be on campus to introduce the band program. She will visit each grade 4-8 classroom, show an introductory video, and provide information on how to join the band. If your child is interested but finances are a hardship, please contact me. I am thankful that we are able to offer band to our students this year.

The PE uniform is acceptable to wear on non-PE days. Students may also wear their regular school uniform on non-PE days. All other uniform guidelines remain in place. Please do not mix the two uniforms. Also, non-uniform sweatshirts or jackets are not acceptable to wear in class.

I pray this letter finds you and your family well.

Sincerely,

Kathleen J. Kilty, PhD
Principal

HAndbook Update

The 2020-2021 Parent-Student Handbook is available online under Student Life. Please print and sign page 52 and return to the office no later than October 9, 2020.

2020-2021 AOB Income Survey

The AOB will be using a google form survey to collect family income data for the 20-21 school year. This safe and secure electronic income survey will automatically collect a family’s data as they complete the survey and will allow us to collect the number of students eligible for free or reduced fee lunch.

Why is this important? These numbers will not only serve for the Title I submissions, but also can be used for textbook funding, grant requests, and allow for accurate reporting of our free and reduced eligibility at the individual school and county level. EACH FAMILY MUST COMPLETE THE SURVEY regardless of whether you believe you qualify for free or reduced fee lunch or not. Collecting family income data is also a requirement of MSDE and we must do so annually.

Visit bit.ly/IncSurvey2021 to take the survey. The survey takes approximate 2-4 minutes and must be completed by October 15, 2020.

Communications

Please ensure you are set up to receive emails through both the SchoolAdmin portal and Constant Contact. Important information is distributed through both channels. Also, be sure to check the website regularly for announcements and other news, as well as for answers to your questions. We have an FAQ for uniforms, general info, and for Learning During COVID.

Prayer Corner

Please add these intentions to your prayers…

Courtney Friesen, daughter of Ann Beirne, recently diagnosed with breast cancer

Jennifer DeFrank, friend of the Tayler family, recently diagnosed with a painful neurological ailment

All those suffering from the effects of the pandemic—physically, emotionally, economically.

All of those in path of the wildfires, especially those who have lost their homes or loved ones.
