Next HSA Meeting 10/11 - Guest Speaker Sister Maggie - RSVP Today!

Mother Seton School's Home and School Association presents our first Mental Health Awareness Speaker Series in conjunction with our next HSA meeting.

Mental Health Awareness Speaker Series:

Guest Speaker: Sister Maggie Scally, D.C.

Topic: Discussing The Second Step Program and its benefits.

As we come out of the past few years, an important topic has come to the forefront, mental health. Mother Seton School and the HSA would like to encourage this discussion to continue, which is why we have planned a 3-part series focusing on various topics centered around mental health. First up is Mother Seton School's very own, Sister Maggie Scally, D.C., and The Second Step Program. Sister Maggie will discuss what the program offers our children and the steps we can take at home to help encourage engagement with our children.

The HSA general meeting will start at 6:30 p.m., with Sister Maggie starting her presentation at 7:00 p.m.

Like all HSA meetings, this event is open to the Mother Seton School community. While we encourage you to attend the HSA meeting to hear about upcoming events and volunteer opportunities, we understand everyone has busy schedules. Sister Maggie's talk will be approximately 30 minutes long.

A Message From the Principal

Dear Families,

I hope you and your children enjoyed a safe and happy Labor Day weekend!

Thank you for your patience and cooperation last week! It has been a busy school year already!

Our Home and School Association (HSA) meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 6, in the media center. I hope you will consider attending. Please read the Tuesday News for more information regarding our HSA and Tuesday’s meeting.

Thursday, September 8, is the Feast Day of the Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary. There are many ways to celebrate the Holy Mother’s birthday with your family. Praying the Rosary and the Hail Mary is a simple, blessed way to give praise to the Mother of God. For a refresher on how to say the rosary, click here.

On September 12, band teacher Mr. Trey Pope will be on campus to introduce the band program. He will meet with all grade 4-8 students and provide information on how to join the band. Please encourage your child to join. Weekly band lessons will be held at school on Mondays.

Beginning September 12, our grade 2-8 students will take the first of three online standardized tests. Schools in the Archdiocese of Baltimore will take the MAP Growth Assessment this year. In this testing session, the students will take three tests: math, reading, and language usage. In the spring, select grades will take a science assessment. Our teachers look forward to using this testing data to help inform instructional decisions and practices. For more information on the MAP Growth Assessment, visit https://www.nwea.org/map-growth.

Have a Blessed Week!

Sincerely,

Kathleen J. Kilty, PhD
Principal

CONGRATULATIONS to the Burns family on the newest addition to their family! Tierney, Keane, and Rowan welcomed baby sister Maeve Marie Burns on August 29. 6lbs 3oz and 20.5in. Mom Lexi and Dad TJ are doing well.

2 girls and 1 boy holding a newborn baby and smiling

May all the blessing of our Lord touch your life today.
May He send His little angels to protect you on your way.
Such a wee little fit, sent from above.
Someone so precious to cherish and love.
May sunshine and moonbeams dance over your head
As you quietly slumber in your bed.
May good luck be with you wherever you go.
And your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow. - Author Unknown

Grandparents & Grand Friends Day Volunteers Needed

The HSA is looking for volunteers to help with set-up, clean-up, serving, and donations of goods. Please sign up to volunteer your time or a donation!

Be a Part of the HSA and Make a Difference for MSS!

The MSS Home and School Association depends on parents to encourage volunteering their time, talents, ideas, experience, and energy. Many parents are uncertain how to get involved due to working full-time, little ones at home, etc. Most of the opportunities have flexibility—please contact us with any questions—and we welcome suggestions on future events and programs.

Please complete the Volunteer Form.

*Join us for our next meeting, tonight (9/6) at 6:30pm in the media center*
