A Message From the Principal

Dear Families,

Congratulations to the Mother Seton School Class of 2022, who will graduate on Sunday, June 5, at the National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton! Our 27 graduates will be attending 16 different high schools throughout the area. Please join us in wishing them all the best as they head off to high school.

As we enter into the final days of the 2021-2022 school year, I would like to provide you with a few 2021-2022 staffing updates.

Five Mother Seton School faculty and staff members will not return for the 2022-2023 school year:

• After three years as a Pre-K assistant and several years as a cafeteria assistant, Mrs. Ally Rabaiotti will not return to Mother Seton School as a Pre-K assistant. However, we are very fortunate to add Mrs. Rabaiotti to our substitute teacher list.

• After ten years as a school nurse and office assistant, Shelly Metts will not return to Mother Seton School. Mrs. Metts will increase her hours at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, where she currently works. You will still see Mrs. Metts on campus as she will return as a substitute nurse and office assistant.

• After serving as a school nurse for 11 years, Stacey Little will not return to Mother Seton School. Mrs. Little recently returned to school and will keep busy working at the hospital and attending classes.

Marie Williams, a nurse at the Provincial House for over 20 years and a school nurse for the last four years, is retiring. Ms. Williams is looking forward to spending time with her friends and family.

• After returning to Mother Seton School this school year to teach middle school math, Mrs. Sharon Beard will not return to Mother Seton School next year. Mrs. Beard is interested in returning as a substitute teacher and spending time with her family.

We will miss Mrs. Rabaiotti, Mrs. Metts, Mrs. Little, Ms. Williams, and Mrs. Beard! Please join me in wishing them well and praying for their health and safety as they move on to their next adventure.

As we say goodbye to the beloved members of the MSS family, we are blessed to welcome Mr. Michael Pace, who will teach middle school math, and Ms. McKenzie Haynes, who will teach a third Pre-K class. Some of you might remember Ms. Haynes as she served as a teaching assistant in the 2020-2021 school year. Later this summer, I will write to you to announce additional new hires and other exciting plans for the 2022-2023 school year.

Have a Blessed Week!

Kathleen J. Kilty, PhD

Emma and Sarah Simmons Submit Broadcom Masters Application

Emma and Sarah have submitted their applications for the 2022 Broadcom Masters U.S. National STEM competition. They each had to submit separate and distinct applications. Each of their applications was 48 pages long! Winners are announced in late Sept or Oct.

Emma & Sarah’s selection as Broadcom MASTERS nominees is a great honor—only 10% of science fair projects nationwide are selected for this opportunity. They could be named one of the Top 300 MASTERS (announced September 7th) or one of the 30 finalists (announced September 21st). The 30 finalists will gather in Washington, DC for a week of competition—including presentation of the research project and hands-on science and engineering challenges. Top prizes include $25,000, trips to STEM summer camps, and more. Schools of Broadcom MASTERS finalists each receive $1,000 from the Broadcom Foundation.
