Persons with temps 100° or greater may not enter the school building

The wellness form to be completed daily comes from the Archdiocese of Baltimore. The AOB threshold is 100.4, HOWEVER, Mother Seton School's threshold is 100. If your student has a temp of 100 or higher, please answer YES to that question and do not send them to school. Thank you!

Fairfield Area Students - Free Lunch

Fairfield Area School District has received a federal grant to provide lunches for all students who reside within Fairfield School District. This is regardless of what school the students attend and economic status. From Monday through Thursday, 11:30-1:00pm, parents may come to the Middle School entrance where cafeteria staff will be. The middle school entrance is on the other side of the building opposite of Fairfield Road. No need to sign anything or provide a name, just the number of lunches needed!

Cafeteria Update

Beginning October 1, students may now purchase a full lunch, entrée only, or entrée with drink. Please see the Cafeteria page for pricing.

Band Registration Opens This Week

Ms. Gries, the band instructor, will visit each grade 4-8 classroom, show an introductory video, and provide information on how to join the band. If your child is interested but finances are a hardship, please contact me.

UPDATE: Performance Series Assessments Begin Wed

The PSA replaces the IOWA basic standardized test. This fall, the test begins on Wed, Sep 23. Please visit the testing page for a list of which grades test on which date. As it's computer-based, you may opt to have the child complete the test from home. Please let your teacher know if this is your choice so they may give you the appropriate login information. *No new instruction will be given on test days. Students opting to remain home to test are only expected to complete the test. It is a series of 3 untimed tests (2 for Gr 1) which should take approximately 1 hour to complete. Breaks will be given in between testing.*

Please complete the AOB Income Survey!

The AOB will be using a google form survey to collect family income data for the 20-21 school year.
EACH FAMILY MUST COMPLETE THE SURVEY regardless of whether you believe you qualify for free or reduced fee lunch or not. Collecting family income data is also a requirement of MSDE and we must do so annually.
Visit to take the survey. The survey takes approximate 2-4 minutes and must be completed by October 15, 2020.

Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.- Blessed Mother Teresa

Hard to believe it has been only a week since school began!

We would like to thank you for all of your cooperation as we navigate a new and challenging educational experience!

Nothing is ever perfect and we have certainly faced some technological glitches, along with nearly every other school system--public and private--in the country. We have made substantial upgrades to our capabilities and continue to work at improving them every day so we can deliver the quality Catholic education you have come to expect from Mother Seton School.

Our staff and our faculty continue to work tirelessly. They are doing their absolute best and we are so appreciative of how supportive you have been, especially since it wasn't possible to do an entire schoolwide test over the summer and many of the bugs we have experienced could only be discovered once we opened for virtual learning last week. Additionally, there are issues that we have no control over, such as the speed and reliability of the internet outside our campus and the operability of third-party platforms. But we will continue to do everything we can to make the virtual option for learning run as smoothly as possible.

We understand it can be frustrating at times. But we appreciate your constructive feedback and the way you model patience in front of your children. It's a blessing to have parents who are truly partners with us as we all face this new time together.

Our faculty and staff had COVID-19 testing and, so far, all the results are negative! The Pre-K 4 class will continue to self-quarantine at home until September 23rd per the Frederick Health Department out of precaution. Should the situation change, we will notify you ASAP.

  • Wellness Forms must be completed before students may enter school each day. Please contact Donna Schisler at if you are having difficulty with the form.
  • Please note: Though the form asks about a temperature higher than 100.4°, no person with a temperature of 100° or higher may enter the building.
  • Mask Up! All persons entering MSS must wear a 2-layer cloth face mask. Bandanas and gaiters are not acceptable mask wear.
  • Full lunch is offered Mon-Thu, with Pizza Day on Thu. Pizza orders must be placed on the Wed prior. All lunch charges will be billed home. No cash accepted.
  • Students may wear their PE uniform on non-PE days through the first trimester. Please note, the winter uniform goes into effect on October 15. Students should switch to PE sweatpants at that time.
  • PE involves running! Make sure to wear appropriate shoes.
  • Remember to bring a water bottle each day. The drinking fountains are closed.

Please ensure you are set up to receive emails through both the SchoolAdmin portal and Constant Contact. Important information is distributed through both channels. Also, be sure to check the website regularly for announcements and other news, as well as for answers to your questions. We have an FAQ for uniforms, general info, and for Learning During COVID.

To reduce the amount of materials sent home, we will not be printing the Tuesday News until further notice. It will be distributed each week through Constant Contact email, as well as posted on our website.

If you have previously unsubscribed from receiving our emails, you will need to add yourself again by re-signing up HERE.

COVID-19 testing is available Tuesday, September 22, Noon-2:00pm at Seton Center (located behind the school). No appointment, referral, or insurance needed. Results in 7 days. Conducted by the Frederick County Health Department. *The FCHD will continue to offer testing in our backyard as long as need is demonstrated. We encourage all our families to use the service!

Rapid testing is available at Frederick Health, 7a-2p 7 days/week. You must present a driver’s license and insurance card:
1 Frederick Health Way
Frederick, MD 21701

Please make sure you have completed the COVID-19 acknowledgements as part of your school contract. Log in to your Parent Portal to do so. Contact Laurie Szukalski at if you need assistance.

2020-2021 AOB Income Survey

The AOB will be using a google form survey to collect family income data for the 20-21 school year. This safe and secure electronic income survey will automatically collect a family’s data as they complete the survey and will allow us to collect the number of students eligible for free or reduced fee lunch.

Why is this important? These numbers will not only serve for the Title I submissions, but also can be used for textbook funding, grant requests, and allow for accurate reporting of our free and reduced eligibility at the individual school and county level.

Cafeteria Notes

The cafeteria will be offering only full lunch for the first trimester. Full lunch consists of an entrée (ham and cheese sandwich, bologna and cheese sandwich, peanut butter and jelly, or pizza (Thursdays only)), fruit or veggie, snack/dessert, and drink. Water bottles will be available for $1.00.

Price for lunch will remain the same: $3.25 with milk, $3.50 with juice.

Pizza Day is Thursday! Orders for pizza must be placed the day before.

Prayer Corner

Please add these intentions to your prayers…

Courtney Friesen, daughter of Ann Beirne, recently diagnosed with breast cancer

All those suffering from the effects of the pandemic—physically, emotionally, economically.

All of those in path of the wildfires, especially those who have lost their homes or loved ones.
