Tuesday News 5/18/21

Students in Pre-K and K were treated to a trip to Good Soil Farm last week, where they learned about the old ways of farming: moving the animals in a specific manner to keep them healthy, not tilling the soil but using techniques to keep in the nutrients, and how to water fields without technology. Each student also got to plant a tomato plant in the field and each brought home basil seeds they planted ourselves! A few of our other grades will have the opportunity for this experiential field trip this week, too.

From the Principal's Desk

Dear Families,

I hope this note finds you and your family healthy and well.

Yesterday, our Holy Father, Pope Francis, started a monthlong, global rosary to end the Coronavirus pandemic. Under a seventh-century icon of our Blessed Mother, Mary, Pope Francis asked for Mary’s intercession to end the suffering and anguish that has gripped the entire world for over a year.

Last week, Father Marty celebrated a virtual Mass dedicated to our Blessed Mother, Mary, and we held a May Crowning at school. In his homily, Father Marty spoke to us about Mary faithfully praying to God to send a Messiah to the world to save His people. God answered Mary’s prayer by asking for her help. Father Marty told us that when God asks for our help, it isn’t always going to be easy. What God asked of Mary was very difficult. But her deep faith led her to say “Yes,” and she answered her own prayer in doing so. You can hear Father Marty’s homily at

We have been participants in answering our own prayers to God asking for an end to the pandemic. We have been faithfully completing the daily wellness survey, staying home when we are sick, wearing a mask, and for some of us, choosing to get vaccinated. Because of our prayers and our participation with God to answer our prayers, we have been able to be in school this year and enjoy many end-of-year activities.

I ask that you join Pope Francis and the faithful of the world to continue to pray for the end of the pandemic and suffering. I believe that if we continue to work with God, our prayers will be answered.

God bless you and your families!
