Tuesday News 4/27/21

Ms. Miller's Pre-K 4 class celebrated last week's Earth Day by helping weed the garden plot outside their playground. As a Green School, we are mindful to engage the students in activities that teach them about caring for the environment and good stewardship of the earth. This week, they'll be planting wildflowers!

From the Principal's Desk

Dear Parents,

I hope this note finds you and your family healthy and well.

For centuries, the Catholic Church has dedicated the entire month of May to honor our Blessed Mother, Mary. Parishes around the world honor Mary with a daily recitation of the Rosary, adorning a Mary statue with flowers, or by displaying a picture of Mary in a prominent spot. These actions aim to serve as a reminder that not only is Mary God’s mother, but she is also our mother.

On Thursday, May 13 at 10:15 AM, Fr. Marty will celebrate a Mass for us. At the conclusion of the Mass, we will celebrate a May Crowning. All students may bring flowers to be presented at our Marian altar. We look forward to celebrating and honoring Mary in this special way.

This month is a perfect time to make a habit of praying the Rosary with your family. Praying the Rosary is something most, if not all, of our students are familiar with, as it is a regular part of our faith life at school. But sometimes it helps to have a guide.

God Bless you and your families!

Kathleen J. Kilty, PhD
Principal

May Procession and Crowning Notes:

· The procession and crowning will take place in the circle outside the school (weather permitting).

· Students may bring flowers (individual or bouquets) to present at the Marian altar.

· Classes will be called individually to process. Masks will be worn.

Walk-a-Thon

Friday, May 7, 9:00-11:30 a.m.

This year’s Walk-a-Thon will benefit the Sister Brenda Monahan Scholarship Fund.

Students will acquire pledges to contribute. This year, we have partnered with Pledgestar to collect pledges more conveniently online! Please review the information packet attached and sent home in your child’s Tuesday folder.

How it works:

Students (Grades 3-8) will walk the 2.0 miles chaperoned path as often as they desire, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending no later than 11:30 a.m.

Students (Grades Pre-K-2) will walk the path once accompanied by their homeroom teachers. They may have the opportunity to do an optional second lap which the homeroom teacher will determine.

Important Notes:

· Virtual students may participate! Please contact your homeroom teacher.

· The school PE uniform may be worn this day. Masks must be worn at all times.

· Students should apply sunscreen before arriving at school. They should bring a hat. Snacks and extra water bottles are encouraged.

· Because of COVID restrictions, parents/outside visitors will not be walking with classes or volunteering along the route. Thank you for your understanding!

Pledge money will be due by May 14.
