Pre-K got to say hello to their friends and Ms. Miller on a Zoom call! Nothing beats being in the classroom, but as our learning continues in this unprecedented time, we are always seeking ways to remain connected as best we can.

A Note from the Principal’s Desk…
Per Governor Larry Hogan’s April 17, 2020 announcement that all Maryland public schools will be closed through May 15, 2020, Mother Seton School will be closed through May 15, as well. Remote learning will continue, and I ask that you continue to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions or uncertainty regarding assignments.
Since our first school closure was announced on March 12th, many of you have expressed your support, but also sadness, confusion, and anxiety regarding the school and business closures, the suspension of public Masses, and the administration of the Sacraments. It’s a trying time for all of us and it can be difficult some days to make sense of it all.
Recently, I read a letter that the Archbishop of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, Most Reverend Bernard A. Hebda, wrote to the faithful in his Archdiocese on April 17th. While Archbishop Hebda, in the following paragraph, is specifically referring to public Masses and the administration of the Sacraments, I believe we can apply his message to our school closure and the many restrictions and closures that have been placed on our society:
“Amidst this pain, I remain convinced that the restrictions that have been placed on public Masses and the administration of the Sacraments are consistent with our faith. The Gospel calls us to respect and defend the lives of our families, neighbors, and especially the most vulnerable. This sometimes requires sacrificing our own desires for their good. ‘There is no greater love, than to lay down your lives for your friends,’ Jesus said the night before He died. How could we as his disciples receive the Sacraments without thought or care for the safely of others? The Eucharist is representation of Jesus’ own sacrifice, and He commands us to follow His example by making sacrifices in how we live out our faith and enter into the Church’s sacramental life. ‘As I have done, you must also do.’”
The health and safety of the Mother Seton community remains top priority. Please continue to pray for all those affected by this virus, our community and government leaders, nurses, doctors, emergency responders, and all those tasked with dealing with this critical situation.
May God continue to bless you and your families!
Kathleen J. Kilty, PhD
Last week, the Board of Directors, with the support of the Daughters of Charity, announced a tuition restructuring plan to help alleviate some of the financial responsibilities for our families during this time of crisis. Please read the complete letter for details.
Additionally, the following message was sent to each family. If you did not receive it, please ensure we have your correct address in the database by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
- We already credited each student’s account $150 for the 2020-21 registration fee. If you have not finished registering, the credit will offset the charge when the enrollment is completed.
- We already credited each student’s account for their May tuition payment. Please email me if you made this payment and wish to have the credit applied to 2020-21.
- August, September, and October credits and adjustments will be made in similar fashion in the coming month once the financial aid process and enrollment process is completed.
- Food assistance is available through voucher and/or gift cards for those of you who may be in need. We are finalizing arrangements with Jubilee to make this available directly through the store. Please email us if you need assistance.
- BOOST deadlines have been extended to June 1st. Please apply asap and let us know when you do. We will contact these families to discuss and assess their financial aid situation.
