Dads and Daughters has a great time at the Daddy Daughter Luau this past Saturday! It's one of the most treasured traditions we have here at MSS, and it's only because of the hard work of the HSA and our parent volunteers that we can offer such fun events! Want to be a part of this amazing community? Join us for our next HSA Meeting, March 10, 2020 at 6:30 p.m.
If you requested to receive a version of Tuesday News via email and you have not been receiving it, please visit the link below and sign up via the online form. NEW this year… If school is on a 2-hour delay this winter, students will have the option to purchase a ham or PB&J sandwich and the soup of the day if they do not wish to pack.
Persons with temps 100° or greater may not enter the school building
The wellness form to be completed daily comes from the Archdiocese of Baltimore. The AOB threshold is 100.4, HOWEVER, Mother Seton School's threshold is 100. If your student has a temp of 100 or higher, please answer YES to that question and do not send them to school. Thank you!
Fairfield Area Students - Free Lunch
Fairfield Area School District has received a federal grant to provide lunches for all students who reside within Fairfield School District. This is regardless of what school the students attend and economic status. From Monday through Thursday, 11:30-1:00pm, parents may come to the Middle School entrance where cafeteria staff will be. The middle school entrance is on the other side of the building opposite of Fairfield Road. No need to sign anything or provide a name, just the number of lunches needed!
Band Registration Opens This Week
Ms. Gries, the band instructor, will visit each grade 4-8 classroom, show an introductory video, and provide information on how to join the band. If your child is interested but finances are a hardship, please contact me.
The PSA replaces the IOWA basic standardized test. This fall, the test begins on Wed, Sep 23. Please visit the testing page for a list of which grades test on which date. As it's computer-based, you may opt to have the child complete the test from home. Please let your teacher know if this is your choice so they may give you the appropriate login information. *No new instruction will be given on test days. Students opting to remain home to test are only expected to complete the test. It is a series of 3 untimed tests (2 for Gr 1) which should take approximately 1 hour to complete. Breaks will be given in between testing.*
The AOB will be using a google form survey to collect family income data for the 20-21 school year.
EACH FAMILY MUST COMPLETE THE SURVEY regardless of whether you believe you qualify for free or reduced fee lunch or not. Collecting family income data is also a requirement of MSDE and we must do so annually.
Visit bit.ly/IncSurvey2021 to take the survey. The survey takes approximate 2-4 minutes and must be completed by October 15, 2020.
A Note from the Principal’s Desk…
Wednesday, February 26 is Ash Wednesday. This day is not a Holy Day of Obligation; however, we are encouraged to begin our Lenten journey by receiving ashes. An all school Eucharistic celebration and the distribution of ashes will begin at 10:00 AM. Parents who are able to do so are encouraged to join us for this special liturgy.
Prayer is an important part of our Lenten journey. I offer you this prayer to recite at home with your family during this Season of Lent.
Through your prophet, Joel, you reminded us of the true meaning of penitence.
As the holy Season of Lent begins, turn my heart towards you.
Let the mark of ashes remind me throughout the season of this call to conversion.
May my repentance be truthful and sincere.
May my prayer be open to your guidance and grace.
May my almsgiving be generous and without strings or restrictions.
In the name of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, I pray.
