From the Principal's Desk

Dear Families,

This coming Friday, October 2, is the annual Angels Above Alumni Golf Tournament at Gettysburg National Golf Club, to benefit the Jack and Shirley Little Scholarship Fund at MSS. Most people view golf as an individual sport, but there are surely times when teams are involved. In fact, Team USA won the 2026 Presidents Cup this past Sunday, September 27, 2026, overcoming a 10.5–7.5 deficit at Medinah Country Club to defeat the International Team 17–13. This was an impressive victory by the US team coming back from a significant deficit.

This Team USA victory made me reflect on how being a member of a team can have an edifying effect on all of us. In fact, the very best teams embody a synergistic effect where the team is actually greater than the sum of its parts. Ecclesiastes 4:9–12 emphasizes how collaboration helps everyone in challenging times: "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow..." Teammates lift each other up and make each other better.

That is how I feel about our team here at Mother Seton School, as we recognize that we are all in this together with the unifying goal of serving and educating students. Indeed, we all contribute in different ways—teaching students, making delicious food, safely transporting students, and keeping the building safe and well-maintained—all of which serve our unifying goal.

Have a blessed week!
