In 2016, the Maryland legislature expanded educational options for income-eligible students through the passage of the Broadening Options and Opportunities for Students Today (BOOST) Program. The program provides tuition assistance scholarships to students to help them attend the nonpublic school best fit for their educational needs.
For the FY 2018-2019 school year, the State of Maryland allocated $7.6 million for scholarships. It is likely that many new scholarships will be awarded. Additionally, students with special learning needs will be given additional scholarship awards.
During the 2019 Maryland General Assembly session, state lawmakers will determine the allocation for the FY 2019-2020 school year and the BOOST Scholarship Coalition is currently awaiting the Governor's proposed budget, which will include his proposed funding for the program. The application period is expected to open on or about March 1st.
FUNDS RECEIVED THROUGH BOOST ARE PAID IN ADDITION TO ANY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE YOU RECEIVE VIA FACTS/MSS.
