MSS Board of Directors

Mission Statement: The Mother Seton School Board of Directors seeks to further the educational mission of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton by providing support, advice and guidance to the school. We seek to complement the knowledge and experience of the professional staff.  By gathering committed persons with various areas of expertise, we hope to provide balanced and informed input to enable Mother Seton School to attain its goal of offering academically excellent education, in a Catholic Christian setting, embodying St. Elizabeth Ann Seton’s principles with regard to self, family and community.

St. Patricia Bossle: Sr. Pat is the President of The Seton Keough High School in Baltimore. She taught at Mother Seton from 1963-1971 and was principal and then development director from 1979-1988. She is also a member of the Finance Committee.

 John Cecil: John, a CPA, is currently the Chairman of the MSS Finance Committee as well as a Board member. John’s two daughters graduated from Mother Seton.

 Msgr. Martin Field: Fr. Marty has been Pastor of St Joseph’s in Taneytown for over 13 years. He is a graduate of St. Mary’s Seminary, Class of ‘59. His parish sends 59 children to MSS, and provides two buses which transport 70 children to MSS.

 Joe Ford: Joe is the President of Mindworks Learning Institute, a Frederick-based educational firm, as well as Director of Interactive Marketing for Immersion Active, which focuses on developing marketing for the 50-plus age group. He is an alumnus of Mother Seton School, St. John’s Catholic Prep, and Mount St. Mary’s University.

Sr. JoAnne Goecke: Sr. JoAnne is the current principal of MSS. She has been an educator for much of her career, both as a teacher and as an administrator, and also worked as a member of the Provincial Council of the Daughters of Charity for a number of years.

Katherine Marshall: An alumna of MSS and Mount St. Mary’s, Kate received her JD from the Georgetown University Law Center. After practicing law for several years in Chicago and Maryland, she “retired” to focus on raising her five children. She has lobbied extensively on Catholic education issues both in Annapolis and on Capital Hill.

Jenna Ott: After raising four children, all of whom attended MSS, Jenna returned to college to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. In 1992, at age 54, she graduated from Mount St. Mary’s University with a BA in Education. Her work as a teaching assistant at MSS while her children were students there led her to a teaching job in 1993. She retired from teaching in 2006 but works part-time at the Seton Shrine.

Raymond Page: Raymond is the President and General Manager of Bill Page Motors in Falls Church, VA. He is a graduate of D.C. area Catholic schools and James Madison University. His aunt, Sr. Mary Frances Cumberland, served as a Daughter of Charity for over 50 years.

Dan Reaver: Dan, MSS class of 1975, has been the President and Part Owner of the Emmitsburg Glass Company for over 20 years. He graduated from St. Mary’s College with a B.A. in Economics. Both his daughters attended Mother Seton School. 

Larry Underriner: Larry has an extensive background in physical plant management and engineering, having spent 9 years as an engineering consultant for the Daughters of Charity National Health System and another 15 years at the Provincial House in Emmitsburg as Assistant Administrator of Plant Operations. Now retired, he provides the Board with invaluable expertise in building matters, including “green” options.

Susan Valenti: Susan brings extensive educational expertise to the Board as a teacher with 30 years of experience. She taught at MSS for 4 years and is currently an intervention teacher with Frederick County Public Schools. Her two sons attended Mother Seton School.

Sr. Mary Catherine Warehime: Sr. Mary Catherine has a BS in Elementary Education and a Master in Early Childhood Education. Of her 20 years of teaching in elementary schools, four years were at MSS, where she later became principal for four years. She currently serves on the Provincial Council for the Emmitsburg Province of the Daughters of Charity.
