Before/After Care
We are
resending the registration forms distributed originally in May in case you
missed them during the end of school rush. Just a reminder that all
documentation must be provided before the first day of Before/After Care.
This includes updated emergency forms and up to date immunization and health
forms. The only changes in the program are a few adaptations due to the
increased Pre-K enrollment.
Family Survey
Be sure to
complete and return the Family Survey by the first day of school. For the
08-09 school year we were allocated the following grants based upon your
07-08 surveys: $2,134 staff development, $11, 500 textbooks, $843 Safe and
Drug Free Schools.
Funding for all three programs was reduced despite
the fact we had a record number of returns and qualifying families. Your
representatives at the state and federal level hold the key to reductions or
increases in funding for non-public schools. Send in your forms, AND let
your voice be heard in Washington and Annapolis. Thanks for doing your part
Medication and Emergency Information
Last year parents were once again highly cooperative in supplying the
required documentation and only asking medication to be dispensed by school
personnel to their child if absolutely necessary. You get A+! If your child
does have a medical condition requiring medication to be distributed or kept
in school for an emergency, ask your health care provider to complete and
sign medication form. Medications are brought to the school office by a
parent, kept in the school office, and returned only to a parent. Be sure to
complete front and back of the emergency information form and return it to
school by or before August 22.
Reminders From School Nurse:
All new students must submit:
- Completed Health Inventory
- Maryland Immunization Certificate completed and signed by
health care provider
- Health Inventory Addendum (Lead screening) for children
under age 6 living in specified zip code areas
Returning students entering grade 6 are strongly encouraged to submit an
updated physical
MSS Students Reach Out
Students attending Mother Seton School’s Vacation Bible School donated $132.72
for children attending Bethlehem Kindergarten in MayChew, Ethiopia, run by
Daughters of Charity. Students daily brought in loose change to fill up the
“money tree.” Rosemary Laudani, VBS Director and MSS parent, was very pleased
with student enthusiasm. “This amount of money may not seem like a lot in our
culture, but will make a big difference to these children. Last year it cost
$970 for food to feed 120 kindergarteners and $350 to provide them with
electricity, gas, water and firewood.”
This past school year, MSS
students were involved with fundraisers from which tithing was sent to Daughters
of Charity missions: $6,150 from the Walkathon for children affected by leprosy
and HIV/AIDS in Kohn Kaen, Thailand; “Have a Heart Basketball Game” donated
$1,640 along with “Clothed in Compassion” clothing recycling raised another $150
to assist AIDS orphans in Kalaisin, Thailand; and Pre-Kindergarten and First
Grade classes donated $370 to provide books, games, puzzles and student chairs
for the Catherine Laboure School in Tanzania.
