PRE-K NEWSLETTER
May 18th, 2012

Dear Parents,

This week will be an exciting and very busy week at MSS.  It is CARNIVAL WEEK!  Pray for beautiful weather!  Please come and join us in the fun and excitement of the week. It is a great family time for all.

Our theme for this week will be the circus.  (Quite Appropriate!)  The stories we will share are “If I Ran the Circus,” “The Circus Baby,” “Olivia,” and “Circus.” 

During Circle Time, we will pattern with circus objects, review opposites using clowns, match upper and lowercase letters, and work on sequencing story events about the circus.  Art projects for the week will be making silly clowns, an elephant mask and a seal.  This is a poem we will learn about the circus:

One, one!  The circus is fun!  (Put fingers on sides of face to show smile.)
Two, two!  Is that a kangaroo?  (Fingers point.)
Three, three!  The monkeys look at me.  (Cup eyes.)
Four, four!  Hear four lions roar.  (Cup ears.) 
Five, five!  Five dolphins dive.  (Fingers dive.)
Six, six!  The clowns do tricks.  (Pretend to juggle.)
Seven, seven!  The seals think they’re in heaven.  (Point upwards.)
Eight, eight!  The elephants wait.  (Make trunk with arms.)
Nine, nine!  Horses march in a line.  (Fingers march.)
Ten, ten!  Tomorrow, may we come again?  (Place both hands together saying please?)
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10!  Yes, we’ll surely visit the circus AGAIN!  (Count 10 fingers.)

Our theme for Prayer Circle will be “Birthdays.”  We thank God for the gift of life.  We will make a book called “I Thank God for Being Alive!  If you have a summer birthday, we can celebrate it this week.

We will end the week by playing a game called “Lion, Lion, Bear!”(Like Duck, Duck, Goose!)  For snack, the students will enjoy popcorn and cupcakes.
